Shipping Canary Islands 2026 places Gran Canaria at the center of international maritime logistics

The forum brings together industry leaders, shipowners, and delegations from three continents on the island to discuss decarbonization, artificial intelligence, and the future of global transport networks.

This week, Gran Canaria becomes the meeting point for the international maritime and port industry as it hosts the second edition of Shipping Canary Islands 2026.

Organized by Oneport Canarias, the event brings together authorities, shipowners, and business delegations from strategic markets such as Brazil, Portugal, Mauritania, Nigeria, Gibraltar, and Ghana, alongside globally recognized organizations including the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).

Throughout the sessions, key challenges transforming global logistics will be addressed, including European decarbonization regulations (EU ETS and FuelEU), trends in bunkering supply, cybersecurity in port infrastructure, the application of artificial intelligence in operations, and the impact of geopolitics on trade routes.

This forum reaffirms the island’s maritime leadership and the prominence of the Port of Las Palmas, ranked as Spain’s fourth-largest port by total traffic and an Atlantic benchmark in essential services such as bunkering and ship repair.

Within this framework, the island offers -through initiatives like Best in Gran Canaria- the tailored support required for companies and investors seeking to leverage its strategic location, first-rate infrastructure, and local ecosystem incentives to establish or expand their operations.
